Grunge Lipstick Ruled the Red Carpet at the Met Gala 2016

The theme of this year's annual Met Gala, Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, had everybody wondering what the A-lister attendees and their respective glam squads would come up with.

Metallics were an obvious choice for both gowns and makeup on the red carpet; Lily Aldridge made a bold statement with gold brows and Ciara rocked silver hair.

Our favourite look was grunge glam; a vampy pout paired with dark smoky eyes and matte skin. We’re used to seeing bright cherry lips on the red carpet, it’s a classic look that is safe and sophisticated, this year celebrities went deeper and darker.

Our favourite looks included…

Rachel McAdams in gold Valentino and a deep burgundy lip that made her green eyes look even brighter.

Poppy Delevingne in a floor-length silver masterpiece by Marchesa. We’re dying over how her vampy, dark lips pop against her sleek, platinum locks. She went the extra mile and coordinated her oxblood lip to her nails for a matchy-matchy look.

Our own Miranda Kerr showed off her amazing abs in a Louis Vuitton long sleeve crop top and pencil skirt and nailed the dark lips look paired with the other hot trend, braids.

Hailee Seinfeld opted for a fairly simple silhouette and jewellery and let her wine-stained lips and smoky eye complete her glamorous ensemble.

Taylor Swift said goodbye to her signature cherry lip and entered the high fashion arena in a Louis Vuitton futuristic metallic gown with a super dark lip and her new bleached-blonde bob.

Try the grunge lips look yourself this winter with Alison Jade Xtreme Lipstick in Vino Noir or Plum Berry.
