Should I get Brow Lamination or Microblading?

We often get asked ‘Should I get Brow Lamination or Microblading.’ The answer always lies with the amount of time you have to upkeep your brows and the look you are ultimately trying to achieve. Both treatments enhance brow density and thickness, and are semi-permanent, however one option lasts all year.

Let’s break down the two brow techniques so that you can determine if you are best suited to Brow Lamination or Microblading.

What is Brow Lamination

Brow lamination involves a chemical treatment that straightens the brow hairs, eliminating any curls, kinks, or natural texture. By using a perming solution the brow hairs are temporarily relaxed and straightened. Your brow hairs will then before uniform and all sit perfectly in the same ‘lifted’ direction.

Post lamination, your brow specialist can use brow dye or tint to enhance their thickness.

A brow lamination at Alison Jade in Perth or Melbourne will last around 4-6 weeks and pricing starts at $130. A Brow Lamination always includes our signature brow style.

If you have the time to book in regular appointments and don’t want to commit to microblading just yet, this treatment may be best for you.

What is Brow Microblading AKA Feather Touch Tattoo

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing technique that adds ‘hair’ like strokes to sparse areas of the brows while depositing pigment into your skin. The pigment is a tailored colour to suit your hair and skin type.

The result is smudge-proof brows that look fuller and last 12 – 18 months. One thing that people often confuse is that cosmetic tattooing is not like a regular tattoo in that it’s NOT permanent.

Once healed, your brow tattoo should look soft and subtle. It should enhance your brow shape and density but still look extremely natural. The microblading technique is not suitable for all skin types and a brow consult at the Alison Jade studio in Melbourne or Perth will be used to determine what will be best for you.

If Brow Lamination is deemed to be unsuitable by our brow specialist, we also have the Ombre Brow Tattooing technique AKA Powder Brows.

Prices from brow tattoos start at $695, so it is more of an investment than Brow Lamination.

If you do not want to commit to regular brow appointments and would like to wake up with perfect brows every morning, this treatment may be best for you!
